Meals on Wheels: Freshly Prepared, Delivered with a Smile
Providing a vital, comforting lifeline to people over 55 across Limerick City surrounding areas.
More Than Just a Meal
At St. Munchin’s Community Centre, we believe everyone deserves to enjoy a delicious, nutritious meal in the comfort of their own home.
Our Meals on Wheels service provides freshly prepared, home-cooked dinners to people aged 55 and over, as well as adults living with a disability, helping them stay healthy, independent and connected while continuing to live at home.
In 2025, our dedicated team proudly delivered around 182,500 Meals on Wheels, ensuring thousands of people across our community received not only a nutritious meal, but also a friendly face and a reassuring daily visit.
It’s about so much more than delivering food. For many of the people we visit, seeing one of our friendly drivers is a welcome part of the day—a chance for a chat, a familiar face and a reassuring check-in. It also gives families peace of mind, knowing their loved one is being cared for by a trusted member of our team.
Every meal is delivered with care, kindness and a smile because, at St. Munchin’s, supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do.
No Matter the Weather: We do our very best to never stop delivery
Here When Our Community Needs Us Most
At St. Munchin’s Community Centre, caring for our community doesn’t stop when the weather takes a turn – it becomes even more important.
Throughout 2025, including during Storm Éowyn and other periods of severe weather, our dedicated team went above and beyond to ensure that people who depended on us continued to receive the support they needed. While many services were disrupted, our Meals on Wheels deliveries continued, providing not only nutritious meals but also reassurance and a vital point of contact for those who were unable to leave their homes.
With the invaluable support of the local Gardaí, we continued to deliver more than 500 meals every day to older people and adults living with disabilities across Limerick, ensuring that no one was left without food, support or a friendly face during some of the most challenging conditions of the year.
We’re incredibly proud of our staff, volunteers and partners whose commitment, compassion and teamwork meant our community could rely on us when it mattered most.
